Recording Our Deceased

Inscription records at all three sites at St Nicholas were collected by Brighton Council at the time of the clearances in the late 1940’s/early 1950’s and the original paper copies can be viewed at the Brighton History Centre. These records only show the inscriptions which could be read at the time, and a great many monuments were listed as ‘blank’ or illegible.

In 2007/8 volunteers from St Nicholas Green Spaces Association transcribed these records, and copies are available to download below.  These records aim to offer a true transcript of the originals. Where errors are identified they will be corrected in future editions.  If you spot any errors or have any further information, this would be gratefully recieved.
